McKithen was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on Thursday, June 1 near Route 1 and Franklin Corner Road in Lawrence Township, DailyVoice previously reported.

An investigation found that McKithen made an improper left turn moments before the crash.

She was just three weeks away from celebrating her graduation from the Lawrence Township Public School District on Thursday, June 22.

A GoFundMe launched by McKithen’s older sister, Shadae, had raised more than $18,700, surpassing its initial $15,000 in just four days.

“Daijah had a contagious smile that could light up any room and a laugh that could make anyone feel better,” reads the campaign. “She was loved by many and will be missed dearly.”

The proceeds will be used for McKithen’s funeral expenses, as well as therapy for the family.

Tributes immediately hit social media as students as loved ones came together near McKithen’s parking space at Lawrence High School to memorialize it with candles, flowers, and words of comfort:

McKithen’s funeral was set for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13 at Central Church on Pennington Road in Ewing. Calling hours start at 9 a.m.

“Her passing has left a massive hole in our hearts, and we want to give her the best send-off possible,” reads the fundraiser. “She was an amazing person who meant the world to my family and me.”
